What you will learn

Course pre-requisites

  • Minimum 10 years of age.
  • You may be required to have an Australian Dive Medical (AS 4005.1) if you have any positive responses to a basic medical questionnaire. Download the medical questionnaire form and call us if you have any questions.
  • Be able to swim.

Master Skills in Confined Water

After building your knowledge base, you’ll move into confined water training— conudcted in a pool—where you’ll practise key skills in a safe and supportive setting. This is your chance to get comfortable with the equipment and techniques before heading out into open water.

  • Clear and remove/replace your mask underwater.

  • Recover and clear your regulator.

  • Control your buoyancy effectively.

  • Navigate using basic underwater techniques.

  • Respond to emergency situations calmly and confidently.

Apply Skills in Open Water

The final stage of your training takes place in open water over two separate day trips. This is where you'll bring together everything you've learned, applying your skills in real-world conditions under the guidance of your instructor. It’s your chance to grow more confident, refine your techniques, and truly experience the magic of diving beyond the classroom and pool.

During your open water dives, you will:

  • Explore the underwater world and enjoy the adventure of real diving

  • Gain confidence as you apply what you've learned in open water conditions

  • Perform essential skills in a natural environment

  • Dive to the maximum depth allowed for your course level

These open water dives include all necessary equipment, training dives, and professional instruction.
