What is Eye on The Reef?

Eye on the Reef is an innovative citizen science program designed to engage the public in the protection and monitoring of the Great Barrier Reef’s health. By providing easy-to-use tools such as mobile apps and online platforms, the program enables snorkelers, divers, tour operators, and local communities to observe and report on various aspects of the reef’s condition. Participants can log sightings of marine life, note coral bleaching, identify signs of crown-of-thorns starfish outbreaks, and record other environmental changes. This wealth of data is invaluable for scientists and reef managers, allowing them to track the reef’s health in real-time, identify emerging threats early, and make informed decisions to protect and preserve this unique ecosystem.

Eye on the Reef fosters a sense of stewardship and connection to the ocean, empowering individuals to play an active role in safeguarding one of the world’s most treasured natural wonders.

Our Involvement and Pride

At Adrenalin Snorkel and Dive, we take great pride in our involvement with the Eye on the Reef program. As an eco-conscious dive and snorkel operator, we integrate reef monitoring and conservation efforts into our everyday activities. Our guides are trained to identify key indicators of reef health and encourage our guests to participate by making their own observations during trips. We see this as a vital way to contribute to ongoing scientific research and help protect the Great Barrier Reef for future generations. Being part of Eye on the Reef reflects our deep commitment to responsible tourism and environmental stewardship.

We are proud to support this program and to inspire both our team and visitors to become ambassadors for reef conservation. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in preserving the beauty and biodiversity of this extraordinary marine environment.

Be sure to ask our crew about the Eye on the Reef program and how you can get involved during your next trip with us!
